Code of Student Life

Students,

Welcome to our community of students, faculty, and staff. For 124 years the University of North Dakota has exemplified a special partnership of these three groups, designed to provide an exciting and creative learning environment. The University of North Dakota Code of Student Life outlines the rights and responsibilities enjoyed by each group and promotes a commitment to its objectives.

The partnership formed between students and a university is by nature participatory. Both parties have significant responsibilities and rights. Each of these must be taken seriously and guarded from wanton intrusion. The Code of Student Life is therefore a document with which you should become well acquainted. Read it carefully, and if needed, seek clarification of its parts. I particularly encourage you to review President Kupchella’s statement concerning the use of alcohol. It is found on Page 7.

Because the University of North Dakota is a public institution, it becomes the “People’s School,” open to all who desire to learn and meet its admission standards. It is a place where
educators and learners believe in the value of each other and both commit to doing their best to make a difference. I wish you well as you pursue your educational objectives and become a member of our community.

Sincerely,
Robert Boyd
Vice President
Student and Outreach Services
